During our walk on the beach, we came across some surprising objects that looked a lot like popcorn . But when one of the locals explained to us what they really were, we were totally shocked . Let me tell you what it was 

We were strolling along the coastline, as we usually do, enjoying the beauty of nature and the tranquility of the place. That day, we were on the island of Fuerteventura, in the Canary Islands. The beach that stretched out before us seemed like the perfect spot for a break, so we decided to stop for a moment to relax and take in the view.

As we approached the shore, an incredible sight unfolded before our eyes. The beach appeared to be covered in an impressive amount of popcorn!

At first, we thought it might be part of a publicity stunt or a marketing display. We exchanged puzzled looks: “Is this really popcorn? Or is it some strange sand?”

Bending down to take a closer look, we picked up a few of these white pieces in our hands, and to our great surprise, we discovered that they were definitely not corn. The texture was hard, almost like stone. So, what were they really? And how could that be?

What struck us the most was the stark contrast: these “white kernels” were scattered across the black volcanic sand. The visual effect was breathtaking.

A local, noticing our confusion, then told us a fascinating story. It turned out that these peculiar shapes were remnants of red corals. When corals die, they lose their color and turn white. Then, the waves wash them up onto the shore. Over time, the water and sand shape them into small rounded forms, resembling popcorn.

This explanation amazed us, and we looked at the beach in a whole new light. It turned out that this place was truly a masterpiece of nature.
