This Is the Most Attractive Hobby a Man Can Have, According to Women

An impressive 98.2% of women say they find men with a particular hobby especially attractive.

While popular pastimes among men across the globe often include activities like sports, hiking, camping, DIY projects, and gardening, there’s one surprising hobby that stands out when it comes to catching women’s attention.

According to a recent survey by Date Psychology, shared by the Daily Mail, this specific interest topped the list for most desirable male hobbies.

Of course, looks and personality still play a big role in long-term attraction—but what someone enjoys in their free time also has a significant impact.

Interestingly, the survey didn’t just highlight the most attractive hobbies—it also listed the least appealing ones.

Drinking.

Drinking, for instance, was ranked among the top 15 least attractive male pastimes. That’s especially concerning considering 55% of men in the UK reportedly consume alcohol at least once a week.

U.S. dating coach Courtney Ryan weighed in via her YouTube channel, saying:

“I think it’s a major turn-off when someone needs alcohol to have fun or when drinking becomes their whole personality.”

Other hobbies that didn’t score well included collecting comic books, cosplay, and debating—all seen by many as less appealing.

But what’s the number one hobby women find most attractive in men?

Reading.

Nearly every woman surveyed—an astounding 98.2%—said they found men who read to be highly appealing.

Other well-rated hobbies included painting, writing, photography, astronomy, hiking, blacksmithing, and archery—activities that are creative, active, or intellectually stimulating.

Even men agree with the results. One Reddit user noted:

“The top hobbies are all creative or involve learning and being engaged. The bottom ones are more about escapism.”

Another added:

“Sure, everyone enjoys a mix. But someone who spends time creating, exploring, or learning tends to be more attractive than someone who doesn’t.”

Still, not everyone sees this as a rulebook. One user offered a grounded perspective:

“Do what you love. If you’re only picking up a hobby to impress others, you probably won’t stick with it. Genuine interest is more attractive than pretending.”

And while some praised the insights, others shrugged it off, calling the list “nonsense.”
