The husband humiliated his wife by ordering her to bring him his slippers in her teeth, like a dog, while the mother-in-law stood nearby and watched with a smile 

But what the daughter-in-law did next shocked them both 

The front door suddenly burst open.

— I’m home! — the husband shouted irritably from the hallway.

Elina immediately perked up. A caring smile appeared on her face. She hurried to meet her son.

— Mark, dear, you must be so tired. This job is exhausting you.

Laura quickly took off her kitchen apron and also came out of the kitchen. Mark paid no attention to his wife. He carelessly threw his heavy coat onto the ottoman, although Laura had asked him many times to hang it in the closet.

The man walked into the living room and tiredly collapsed onto the leather sofa. He stretched his legs in his expensive shoes directly onto the light carpet.

— Is the food ready? — he asked dryly.

— Yes, dinner is already on the table. Wash your hands first, then come to the table, — Laura answered calmly.

— I’m not going anywhere. Bring it here. And take off my shoes.

Laura stopped at the entrance to the living room. She felt everything inside her tighten. Mark had been rude before, but such humiliation had never happened.

— Mark, the table is set in the dining room. The food will get cold, — she said quietly.

— I said take off my shoes! — he interrupted sharply. — I provide for this house. I pay for your life. Can you at least once do what I say?

At that moment Elina came out of the kitchen. She stopped behind the sofa and watched what was happening with a faint smile.

— Laura, why argue? — she said calmly. — A man is tired after work. He needs care. Learn to be a good wife before he finds a woman who is smarter.

Laura felt a tight lump in her throat. Her hands were trembling. Over the years in this house, Mark and his mother had gradually instilled in her a feeling of helplessness.

She slowly walked up to the sofa and knelt down. The cold floor unpleasantly touched her legs. Laura carefully untied the laces and removed her husband’s shoes.

— The slippers, — Mark said lazily.

Laura stood up and walked to the hallway. A few seconds later she returned with the house slippers and placed them in front of the sofa.

Mark looked at them, then at his wife. A mocking smile appeared on his face. He kicked the slippers with his foot. They flew toward the wall.

— That’s not how I asked.

— What do you mean not like that?

— Bring them properly, — Mark said calmly. — In your teeth. Like a dog.

The room became very quiet. Laura looked at her mother-in-law, hoping to see at least some sign of outrage. But Elina only watched the scene with a satisfied expression.

— Mark, you are a little strict, — she said, although her eyes were shining with pleasure. — But sometimes people really need to be taught obedience.

Mark said nothing. He simply waited.

Laura slowly turned and looked at the slippers lying near the wall. At that moment she clearly understood that she would no longer allow anyone to treat her this way.

She walked to the wall and picked up the slippers. For a few seconds she simply stood there holding them in her hands. Then she suddenly turned around and threw them with all her strength into her husband’s face.

The slippers hit Mark on the cheek.

— I’m filing for divorce. I’ve had enough. Find yourself another dog.

Laura calmly picked up her bag and headed toward the door.

— Without me and my money you’ll be crawling back in a day! — Mark shouted angrily.
