Martin Mull, the famous comedian and actor, informed his family that he turned 80 today. His daughter, Maggie Mull, shared this sad news on Instagram, stating that her father had passed away at home after bravely battling a long illness.
Maggie added that her father was known for his talents in several creative fields, as well as for his humorous advertisements for Red Roof Inn, which always made him laugh.
She also mentioned how much he would be missed by his friends, colleagues, artists, musicians, and most of all, his many dogs. His wife and daughter also feel a great loss, emphasizing how much he was loved.
Martin Mull is best known for playing the role of private detective Gene Parmesan in the series “Arrested Development”. In 2016, he received his first and only Emmy Award nomination for his role as Bob Bradley in “Veep”. Throughout his career, he took on various roles, exploring different aspects of creative expression.
In 1985, he co-wrote, with Fred Willard, the mockumentary “The History of White People in America”. He also loved writing songs and bringing joy to those around him. “A Girl Named Johnny Cash”, a parody of “A Boy Named Sue”, was recorded by country star Jane Morgan in the 1970s and stayed on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart for five weeks.
