“Oh, sorry, I just tripped by accident, the cake flew out of my hands”: my mother-in-law deliberately threw my wedding cake onto the floor and didn’t even try to hide her joy; but after what I did, she fell to her knees and begged me to forgive her 😢😨

My mother-in-law disliked me from the very first day. She didn’t even try to hide it. When her son said he had met a girl, she immediately decided that he must be talking about the daughter of her best friend. That girl had grown up before her eyes, often visited their home, and my mother-in-law had dreamed for years that one day she would become her daughter-in-law. But then I appeared in her son’s life.

She smiled in front of people, but behind that smile there was always a cold hostility. She constantly tried to make us argue. Sometimes these were small things that could have been dismissed as coincidence. But over time I began to understand that these “coincidences” were happening far too often.

Once she invited her son to her house, supposedly to help her install a shelf in the bathroom. I was waiting for him at a café for a date, but he never came and didn’t answer my calls. After a few hours he called me with an irritated voice and said he was stuck at home. As it turned out, his mother had locked him in the bathroom and said the lock had broken. Later, when a repairman opened the door easily in two minutes, she just shrugged and said she didn’t understand how it had happened.

Her attitude toward our wedding was even worse. She openly told her son that he was making a mistake. Several times she even tried to convince him to cancel the ceremony.

On the wedding day it became clear that she had decided to ruin the celebration by any means possible.

First of all, she arrived not in a dress like the other guests, but in ordinary everyday clothes, as if she had come to the market. When one of the guests carefully asked why she was dressed like that, she simply shrugged and said she didn’t consider this day very important.

Then she offered to help me before the ceremony and suggested carefully ironing my veil. At first I refused, but she insisted so persistently that I finally agreed. A minute later the smell of burnt fabric came from the room. The veil had been ruined by the iron. She threw up her hands and said she had accidentally kept the iron in one spot for too long.

I tried not to pay attention. I kept repeating to myself that this was my day and no one could ruin it.

But everything continued.

During the photo session she came closer, as if she wanted to look at the photos on the photographer’s camera screen, and suddenly “accidentally” knocked the camera with her hand. The camera fell to the floor.

I stayed silent again.

But the final straw was the wedding cake.

It was a huge three-tier cake with fresh flowers. It had been delivered in the morning and carefully placed in the center of the hall.

My mother-in-law was standing next to the cake and suddenly declared that it was placed badly and needed to be moved a little. I immediately told her not to do it. She still walked up to the table.

A second later a dull sound was heard. The cake lay on the floor, broken into pieces, cream and flowers smeared across the brown parquet.

— Oh, sorry, — she said, raising her hands. — I just tripped by accident. The cake simply flew out of my hands.

But there was a strange smile on her face. She didn’t even try to hide her joy.

I looked at the marks on the floor and immediately understood that the cake had not simply fallen. It had been thrown.

She continued pretending to be sorry.

— I’m so clumsy today, — she sighed. — I keep dropping things all day. I probably don’t feel well. Son, maybe you could take me to the hospital?

She said it in such a pitiful tone, as if she were the victim. And that was the moment my patience snapped.

I did something after which my mother-in-law fell to her knees and begged me to forgive her. 😢😲 Continuation in the first comment 👇👇

I walked up to my husband and calmly said:

— Now you have to decide one thing. Either me, or your mother.

The hall fell silent. The guests stopped talking and looked only at us.

He looked first at the ruined cake, then at me, then at his mother.

— I choose my wife, — he said quietly but firmly.

And at that moment my mother-in-law’s face changed.

She realized that everything had gone too far and that she could actually lose her son right now.

Her confidence disappeared instantly.

She came up to me, her voice low and nervous.

— I didn’t want everything to end like this… — she began.

But no one believed those words anymore.

A second later she dropped to her knees right in the middle of the hall and began asking for forgiveness. She said she had simply been too nervous, that she hadn’t meant anything bad, that it had been a difficult day and that she had behaved foolishly.

She kept repeating that she loved her son and didn’t want to lose him.
