After the birth of our daughter, I decided to work from home so I could fully care for my baby. This obviously prevented me from always being in good shape. My husband, however, was used to seeing me always well-groomed, well-dressed, and wearing makeup.

He places great importance on appearances, and for him, a woman must be impeccable, no matter the circumstances. He works in finance, and in his field, every detail counts. Therefore, he likes to be surrounded by people who match this requirement for perfection.

Whenever he invited his friends or colleagues, he would let me know so that I would have time to get ready and look presentable. But one day, he came home unexpectedly with his boss. And then, when he saw his boss surprised and asked, “Are you the cleaning lady?”, without even looking at me, he replied, “Yes.”

I decided not to react immediately. Instead, I decided to play along and get involved in this charade. I pretended to be the “maid” and nanny of our child.

My husband had no idea what this charade would cost him. After his boss left, I taught him a lesson he’ll never forget.
