My husband called me to say that he was leaving me for another woman – he surely didn’t expect the reaction I had

My husband called me to say that he was leaving me for another woman – he surely didn’t expect the reaction I had.

When I came home from work, I arrived at the house, but he wasn’t there. Suddenly, the phone rang. It was him.

— You’ve probably noticed that I’ve been coming home late these past few days. Actually, I have another woman. Please, don’t make a scene.

I think he expected me to cry or get upset, but my reaction was completely different. After my words, he hung up, furious, while I continued preparing dinner.

I’ll share the rest of my response in the comments👇👇

I got home around 7 p.m. Normally, my husband would already be home by then, but this time, the apartment was empty.

The kids were at his mother’s, so I wasn’t in a hurry. I just wanted to make myself something to eat, relax, and go to bed early.

My husband probably wouldn’t be home until midnight, as he had been these past few months. Honestly, I no longer cared what he was doing.

But suddenly, the phone rang. His name appeared on the screen. I answered, and he started speaking right away:

— You’ve probably noticed that I’ve been coming home late these past few days. Actually, I have another woman. Please, don’t make a scene.

I raised an eyebrow, with neither anger nor surprise.

— Honestly, I didn’t expect this from you. You know very well that I have an appointment at the hairdresser’s tomorrow and that you should take care of the kids. Why couldn’t you have told me this tomorrow? — I replied, hiding my irritation.

He remained silent, clearly confused, not understanding why I wasn’t upset.

— Listen, I just want to eat. Do you know where the mayonnaise is?

— You’re not even asking who she is or why I left? Don’t you care? You don’t want me to come back? You don’t love me anymore?

I thought for a moment before responding:

— Honestly, I don’t care who she is or why you left. Those are your problems. Did you take the mayonnaise to your mistress?

He couldn’t believe his ears:

— What kind of woman are you? Your husband is leaving you, and you’re asking about mayonnaise? — he said, and I thought it was time to end this conversation.

I felt neither pain nor regret. What concerned me was only the kids and the house. My husband could start his new life – for me, his departure had long stopped being a loss.
