When my husband’s grandmother sold her house to move in with her children, my mother-in-law chose to keep several sentimental items.

I specifically asked to set aside two bedside tables and two armchairs that would have otherwise been included in the sale.

Many other belongings, such as rugs, kitchen utensils, trunks, paintings, and various personal keepsakes, also found a place in my in-laws’ home.

One summer, while visiting family, I decided to restore one of the neglected bedside tables.

Its condition was far from ideal: chipped paint and wobbly legs. Yet, I saw hidden potential in it.

The old coating was removed. It was a labor-intensive task, but the thought of the final result made the effort enjoyable.

For its new look, I chose a soft pastel paint that brought a touch of modernity while preserving its vintage charm.

The handles were replaced with vintage models, and sleek modern legs were added to provide greater stability and a lighter, more ethereal appearance.
