The new parents noticed that their dog sat by the crib every night without moving — so they decided to install a camera
When the young couple welcomed their baby daughter, their golden retriever Lora immediately took on the role of nanny. Dogs often become loyal companions to children, but Lora’s behavior soon turned strange.
Then something very unusual began. For a whole week, every night, Lora would go to the crib, sit beside it, and not move. She didn’t lie down, didn’t fall asleep, didn’t even leave to drink water. She just sat, continuously watching the baby and occasionally whining softly.
“She’s probably just guarding her,” the mother smiled at first.
But each day, the dog’s behavior became stranger. She sat by the crib all night while the parents slept in their room. And in the morning, she acted like nothing had happened — eating, sleeping, playing.
The young mother started getting scared. “Why is she doing this? I’m really worried about our daughter. Maybe we should take her to the vet?”
To ease their anxiety, the couple installed a night-vision camera aimed at the crib. In the morning, they watched the footage — and were left in shock… Their daughter had been in danger… Continuation in the first comment
At around 3:12 AM, Lora suddenly stood up, growled, and started barking loudly toward the window. On the video, it was clearly visible: the window sash opened very slightly, slowly. Then a hand — someone’s hand — tried to push through the screen.
The dog leapt into action, grabbed the curtain with her teeth, and jumped onto the windowsill, barking. The hand disappeared. One second later — silence.
The mother grabbed the phone and called the police.
Later, it turned out that a criminal had been operating in the area for several weeks, breaking into homes through ground-floor windows. He specifically targeted families with babies — to catch the parents off guard and defenseless.
He was caught two days later thanks to evidence found by the window — scraps of glove fabric and drops of blood. Lora had bitten him.
Since then, the couple never locked Lora in the kitchen at night again. She now slept in the nursery — peacefully curled up beside the crib. She never whimpered again.
She had done her job. She had simply protected.
