One day my son categorically refused to go to daycare: when I found out the reason, I was speechless.
My son had been attending daycare for five months. From time to time, he asked me to stay a little longer because he loved going there. The nannies were attentive, and he couldn’t wait to see his friends again.
One morning, as I was waking him up to take him to daycare, he asked me to stay home. At first, I thought it was just a passing tantrum, so I decided to make him happy by listening. I called my mother to stay with him, and I was able to leave for work.
The next day, the scene repeated itself, but this time he was crying and absolutely refused to go to daycare. His insistence worried me deeply. I felt like there was something I didn’t understand, something I had to discover.
I first contacted a neighbor whose daughter also went to the same daycare. She reassured me that everything was fine for her daughter, who always enjoyed going there.
Still, the worry persisted, so I decided to go to the daycare to figure out what was really going on. What I discovered left me speechless.
The rest of my story is in the article in the first comment .
Looking through a window, I saw an old lady without a badge forcing a child to eat.
Despite his crying, she continued to force the spoon into his mouth.
She explained to me that this was part of the daycare rules, but I preferred to go see the director.
She confirmed to me that the woman was an untrained volunteer and should never have been alone with the children.
After reporting the incident to authorities, an inspection revealed several serious failings: employees without the required certifications, and children forced to finish their meals under threat of shaming.
As a result, the daycare lost its license.
Thanks to my son, other children have had the courage to testify.
Today I am enrolling him in a new daycare, where he feels respected and safe.
