My mother-in-law said I wasn’t worthy of her son – a year later, she begged for forgiveness on her knees: here’s why

When I first came to my future husband’s house, his mother didn’t even try to hide her contempt.

“Do you really think he’s going to marry you?” she scoffed.

I stayed silent. My husband and I truly came from different worlds. He was the son of a doctor and a lawyer. I grew up in an orphanage and worked as an accountant. But we loved each other.

At our wedding, my mother-in-law deliberately wore a black dress – “as mourning for the son being taken from the family.”

I said nothing. My husband tried to mediate, but his mother was unyielding. A few months later, she started playing games: she complained to him that I was “humiliating” her, turned relatives against us, and even once planted her earrings under our bed and accused me of theft.

But then something happened that made my mother-in-law fall to her knees and beg for forgiveness. Here’s what happened 👇👇

My husband got into an accident. Severe concussion, memory loss, rehabilitation. He didn’t recognize me.

That’s when my mother-in-law came to the hospital and smiled for the first time in ages.

“This is for the best. Now we can start over, son,” she said to him.

She took him home. Forbade me from visiting. I stood outside the windows, brought food, medicine, letters – but nothing reached him. I heard her say:

“That ‘wife’ is just a story. You were never married.”

A month passed. Then another. I almost gave up. But one day, I got a call from an unknown number. It was my husband.

“I remembered,” he said. “Not everything. But the most important thing – you. She lied. Please come.”

When I entered the apartment, my mother-in-law was sitting on the couch. My husband stood beside her, holding a stack of my unsent letters.

“Why did you lie to me?” he asked his mother.

She stayed silent.

“Leave,” he said. “Or ask forgiveness from the one you tried to erase from my life.”

My mother-in-law slowly sank to her knees in front of me. And for the first time in her life, she said:

“Forgive me.”
