I always considered my family strong. But one day, everything collapsed in an instant.
I caught my husband with another woman. He didn’t even try to justify himself or ask for forgiveness. Instead, he had the audacity to blame me for everything.
“It’s your fault. You’ve stopped being a woman for me. You don’t take care of yourself, but work all day.”
These words sounded like a death sentence. But the worst thing was that even his family supported him. My mother, the one from whom I expected consolation, said:
— All men cheat, accept it.
This was the last straw. I was seething with anger, humiliation, and resentment. And then a wild thought popped into my head – to take revenge on him in the most cruel way: to cheat on him in return with the first person I met. Not out of love, not out of desire, but out of anger.
I went outside, deciding to implement my plan. The first person I met was a man in shabby clothes, sitting right on the sidewalk.
He had a bun in his hands, and he was eating it with such an air as if it was the most important meal of his life.
“How angry he will be when he finds out that I preferred a homeless person to him,” I thought, and a bitter smile appeared on my face.
And indeed, my husband was furious when he found out about everything. Our marriage collapsed completely, we divorced. But soon I found out that I was expecting a child.
The father was that same man from the street.
At first, I thought about getting rid of the child. I could not imagine that I would raise a “homeless son.” But gradually something changed in me. A strange feeling arose in my chest – as if this child was given to me by fate. I decided to keep him.
Nine months flew by like one day. And then the moment came – I arrived at the maternity hospital. But when the doctor examined me, something terrible came to light.
In the office, I saw a familiar face. It was him. That same man. Only not dirty and exhausted, but in a white coat, collected and confident.
He recognized me too.
It turned out that on the day I met him, he was returning home after a hard night shift. Tired, without strength, he just sat down on the street and took out a bun to have at least a little snack. I took him for a homeless person … And he was a doctor at this hospital.
I did not know where to hide from shame. But he just calmly said:
– Don’t worry, everything will be fine. I will help you.
And indeed, he delivered the baby as if he held fate itself in his hands. There was no condemnation or anger in his gaze, only firm calm and care.
After the baby was born, he did not turn away. He acknowledged his son and began to help us. He officially registered paternity, paid child support and always found time to see the baby.
Gradually, I realized that the “homeless man” I once met on the street turned out to be the only real man in my life. My husband, family, friends – they all betrayed me. And he, a random passerby, became a father and support for my child.
