My brother’s wife had forced my parents to live in the garage, and here’s the lesson I taught her

I visited my parents and discovered that my brother’s wife had forced them to live in the garage. Here’s what I did.

After finishing my studies, I decided to work and live abroad. It’s been five years since I’ve been living on my own, and during this time, I’ve only been able to visit home once, for my brother’s wedding.

However, I kept in touch almost every day with my parents, often through video calls. But one day, when I called my mom, she didn’t answer. A few minutes later, she texted me, saying she was busy and that it would be better to communicate via SMS.

A few days later, she told me that the camera on her phone was broken, making video calls impossible. And this continued, with each excuse more creative than the last.

This change in behavior worried me. I couldn’t understand what my mom was trying to hide. So, I decided to take action. I took a week off without telling them, to surprise my parents and, most importantly, to figure out what was really going on.

When I arrived home, my brother’s wife opened the door, clearly surprised to see me. When I walked in, the house was empty.

“Where are my parents?” I asked. She told me they were in “their house,” and she would take me there.

She drove me to our garage and introduced it as my parents’ “house.” I was completely shocked. Speaking with my mom, I learned that my brother’s wife had forced them to leave the house and move into the garage.

The most surprising thing was that my brother had accepted this situation. I was furious. I then made the decision to teach them a lesson they would never forget, and here’s what I did.

I went straight to the house papers.

I found out that the house was only in my father’s name.

I immediately confronted my brother’s wife, asking why my parents had been forced to leave their own home.

She was speechless, then tried to justify her decision by talking about a “family arrangement.”

But I didn’t let her continue.

I firmly said: “It’s up to my parents to decide where they want to live, and if they choose to stay in this house, you’ll have to leave. As for you, if you need a roof over your head, you can always live in the garage.”
