In the morning we found something strange in our yard and at first we thought it was just a piece of rope: but when we looked closer, we realized what it really was – and we were horrified. 😨😢

This morning we discovered something very unusual in the yard.

At first, it looked like a forgotten piece of rope or maybe some kind of craft. But on closer inspection, we realized it was a chain of oval bodies, tightly connected to each other. They were hanging from a branch, as if someone had deliberately put them there. 😱

We found it right next to the lawnmower. My husband had gone outside to check the machine and noticed a strange mark on the grass – as if something had fallen from above. When he looked up, he saw on the lower branches of the old tree a chain of about ten little “pouches.” 😱

It looked so unusual that we first thought of insects. Maybe a nest? Maybe cocoons? But the longer we stared, the more uneasy we felt. Each “pouch” was semi-transparent, and inside there was something alive. 🫣 When we finally learned the truth, we were shocked that this could happen right in our yard. 😨 I’ll share the details in the first comment 👇👇

Later we found out the truth – and it shook us. They turned out to be snake eggs. As it turned out, they had literally fallen out of the female during an attack by a bird of prey.

Most likely, a hawk or a buzzard had grabbed the snake in its claws and carried it off, while some of the eggs dropped mid-air. They got caught on a branch and hung there, forming that strange “garland” that had frightened us so much.

We stood in silence, looking at each other. To imagine that such a wild scene of nature had played out right above our yard was both terrifying and fascinating.

The snake became the victim of the hunt, but its offspring remained hanging there – like a grim reminder of the fragility of life.

Now, every time we pass that tree, we remember this discovery and how strangely life and death intertwine right before our eyes.
