For three years I worked abroad, sending money to my sister so she could take care of our mother, but when I came home I saw the terrible conditions my mother was living in 😢😢

For three years I lived and worked abroad. It wasn’t an easy decision – to leave my hometown, to leave my mother alone, but at that time I had no choice. I knew my mother was no longer young and had health problems. But my younger sister assured me that she would be there, that she would take care of our mother.

We agreed: I would send money every month so that mom would have everything she needed – food, medicine, and to pay the bills. And my sister would simply be by her side, look after her, and help around the house. That’s how we lived for three years: I worked from morning till night, saved every penny, sent the money, and believed that at home my mother was in good hands.

This summer I decided to make a surprise. I didn’t tell anyone – not mom, not my sister. I bought a ticket, flew to my hometown, and went straight to our apartment. In my hand I had my old key. I put it in the lock, turned it – and the door opened easily.

I stepped inside and immediately felt an unpleasant smell. But the real shock came when I saw my mother’s room.

Mom was lying in bed, covered with old rags. She was wearing a faded green T-shirt that once looked good on her but now hung like a sack. Her face had grown gaunt, her hair was completely gray, her skin aged as if ten years had been added in a single day. Around the bed there was chaos: plastic bags, dirty clothes, empty medicine boxes, papers, trash. The smell was suffocating – a mix of mold, medicine, and a room long neglected.

– Mom… – I rushed to her. – What is happening here? Why are you in such a state? I’ve been sending you money!

She looked at me with tired eyes and sighed heavily:

– My daughter… I waited for you so long. But all this time I lived alone. Your sister… she rarely came. Your money, I never saw it. All I had was my pension. With it I bought medicine, a little food… The rest – I did it all myself, everything alone.

I could hardly believe my ears. So all those three years, while I worked and sent every penny home, my sister simply kept the money for herself? She didn’t care for mom, didn’t buy food, didn’t pay for anything… and mom stayed silent, so as not to upset me.

I looked around. Everything was clear: mom had lived in complete poverty, just to avoid asking for help. She saved on food, bought the cheapest medicines, and wore only the old clothes she had left. In the room there wasn’t a single sign that someone cared.

I hugged mom and said:
– That’s it. From now on, you will never be alone again.

That very day I decided that my sister must answer for what she had done. For three years she lived off my money – buying herself new clothes, going to restaurants, posting pictures of a beautiful life, while our mother rotted away in her own apartment. 😢😢 This is what I did. I’m sharing my story in the first comment, and you tell me: did I do the right thing? 👇👇

I sold the house, which was registered in my name, and the car – also mine. I immediately froze all the bank accounts where I had been sending money and took control of them myself. My sister was left without a penny.

When she found out, she called me in hysteria. She screamed, threatened:
– What have you done?! How could you leave me with nothing?! You have no right!

I answered coldly:
– Be quiet. Otherwise I will go to the police and tell them everything. About how you deceived me and abandoned our sick mother to her fate.

On the other end of the line, silence fell. I knew she was afraid.

My sister was left with nothing. And to be honest, I don’t feel sorry for her at all.
