Daughters text to Dad, Funny!!!

When Lilly sent her father a message from across the world, she expected excitement—or at the very least, a warm blessing. What she got instead was a lesson in hilarious digital sarcasm that she would never forget.

It all began with a simple, upbeat text message from Lilly, sent one sunny afternoon from Australia. Her father, thousands of miles away in the United States, was probably enjoying his morning coffee when it buzzed onto his screen.

“Daddy, I’m coming home to get married soon, so get your checkbook ready. LOL!”

She wasn’t joking. Well—maybe half-joking.

Lilly had met someone online. It all started on a dating site. That turned into a casual Facebook friendship. From there, they graduated to late-night, time-zone-bending WhatsApp conversations. Eventually, it became something more than just messaging emojis and voice notes. He proposed during a blurry Skype call—he in his apartment, she wrapped in a blanket on her sofa.

“We’ve been together for two whole months now—through Viber mostly,” she explained. “I just need your blessing, your good wishes… and, well, a big beautiful wedding. Love you lots, Daddy. –Lilly.”

To anyone else, this might’ve been a red flag. But her father? He wasn’t mad. He wasn’t panicked. He was something far worse for an eager daughter: completely, hilariously unimpressed.

His reply came quickly—and it was as dry as it was brilliant.

“My dear Lilly, like… wow. Really? Cool. Whatever.”

Not the start she hoped for. But he was just getting warmed up.

“I suggest you two get married on Twitter, celebrate with a dance on TikTok, and stream the wedding live on Twitch.”

He continued without missing a beat.

“Register your gifts on Amazon, split the costs through PayPal, and when things get rough—because let’s be real—they will, just auction him off on eBay.”

Ouch.

But the sarcasm wasn’t cruel. It was classic Dad—his way of expressing concern, doubt, and yes, a little disapproval, without launching into an emotional monologue or a panicked lecture. It was clear he wasn’t thrilled with the idea of his daughter marrying someone she hadn’t even hugged in person. And honestly, who could blame him?

Still, his message ended just as lovingly as hers began.

“Lots of love, Dad.”

The exchange quickly made the rounds online after Lilly shared it—part out of pride, part out of disbelief. Comments flooded in, from people laughing at the dad’s razor-sharp wit to others admiring how he managed to stay calm, honest, and protective all at once.

One user wrote: “This is peak Dad energy. No yelling. Just brutal comedy and subtle parenting.”

Another chimed in: “Tell him to book the honeymoon through Expedia—just in case they need a quick return flight.”

Despite the laughs, the message carried a deeper truth: a reminder that love in the digital age may be fast-paced, but family wisdom—especially from a dry-humored dad—is timeless.

Lilly may still go through with her international love story. She might even have the big wedding she dreams of. But one thing is certain—she’ll be hearing her father’s eBay joke at every family dinner for the next twenty years.
