Beloved Texas Congressional Staffer Remembered for Service and Dedication After Tragic Passing

Regina Santos-Aviles, a 35-year-old congressional staffer for U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales, passed away after an incident at her home in Uvalde, Texas. She was airlifted to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, where she later died. Santos-Aviles was known for her dedication to serving rural communities and helping residents access important federal resources.

She began working for Rep. Gonzales in 2021 as a district director and was deeply respected by colleagues and community members. Friends described her as warm, energetic, and someone who made people feel valued and understood. She was also a loving mother to her 8-year-old son, who survives her.

Authorities confirmed that the Texas Rangers and the Uvalde Police Department are leading the investigation into her death. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office is reviewing the case, with results expected in the coming weeks. At this time, officials have not released a final cause or manner of death.
