During the night, a little girl called the police and reported that her parents had been locked in a room for a long time and that no sound could be heard from there. When the police arrived and found out the reason, they were horrified.

The night officer sat at the station under the dim light of an old monitor. The night passed without a single call, and boredom began to weigh heavily. Suddenly, the phone rang. — “Police, speaking,” he replied automatically.

On the other end, a trembling child’s voice, no older than seven, said: — “Hello…”

— “Why are you calling so late? Where are your parents?” asked the officer.

— “They… they are in the room,” whispered the girl.

— “Can you give the phone to your dad or mom?”

— “No… I can’t.”

The officer’s heart sank.

— “Tell me what happened. People don’t call the police for no reason.”

— “It’s important… mom and dad… they aren’t moving,” the girl said through tears, — “they’ve been locked in the room for a long time.”

The officer immediately realized the situation was serious. 

He asked for the address and told her to stay in the room. Ten minutes later, a patrol car arrived at a two-story house on the outskirts of the city.

The girl opened the door herself and pointed to the bedroom: — “They’re there…”

What the police discovered made them stop in their tracks: everything was worse than they could have imagined.

The police slowly entered the bedroom, expecting something incomprehensible. The night light cast long shadows on the walls, and the silence seemed almost tangible.

The parents lay motionless on the floor, and one of the officer’s hearts froze with fear. It seemed as if time had stopped.

The girl stood beside them, hands tightly clenched, barely breathing. She tried to explain that she had tried to wake her parents, but they didn’t respond.

A strong smell filled the room — a mixture of perfume and some chemical substance that immediately alarmed the officers.

One of the officers cautiously approached the mother and checked her pulse — her breathing was weak but present. Both parents were unconscious, but fortunately alive.

The girl burst into tears of relief when they explained to her that her parents were okay.

A few minutes later, an ambulance arrived, and the parents were immediately taken to the hospital.

The police stayed in the house, trying to understand how the little girl had managed to call for help in time.

That night left an indelible mark in the memory of all involved: the gentle voice of the seven-year-old girl saved her parents’ lives, and only thanks to the timely arrival of the police was a tragedy prevented.
