One day, on a bus, the driver noticed an old lady without a ticket. She wore an old coat and was holding on to the bar with difficulty. The bus was almost empty, and a light rain was falling outside.
The driver asked her several times to get off because she hadn’t paid for the ride. The woman remained silent, gripping her bag tightly. The atmosphere on the bus grew tense. Some passengers looked away.
She slowly moved toward the exit. When the doors opened, the cold, damp air hit her face. She stopped, looked at the driver, and said:
— I used to teach children with love. They grew up to be great people, like you. And today, I don’t even have the right to sit down.

She got off, and the bus remained silent. The driver, thoughtful, stayed alone to reflect. Some passengers left the vehicle, leaving their tickets on the seats.
The next morning, he resumed his route but with a different outlook. He paid attention to the passengers, especially the elderly.
A week later, at the end of his route, he saw her again at a stop. He stopped and approached her.
— I’m sorry — he said. — I was wrong that day.
She looked at him and smiled gently.

— Life teaches us all. The important thing is to be attentive and listen — she replied.
He helped her board, offered her some tea, and they traveled in silence, but the atmosphere was no longer the same.
Since that day, the driver always carried a few extra tickets to help those who couldn’t pay. He became more attentive to every passenger, and above all, more humane.
He remembered her words and understood how much respect and compassion can change the world.
