A young girl gave her last coins to pay for a stranger’s ride… Without knowing it, she would see him again — on the night of her own graduation prom.

Karina grew up in a modest but close-knit family, where true wealth wasn’t material but found in warmth and mutual support. She lived with her mother and grandmother — two strong women who had been through many hardships but kept their kindness and generosity intact. Money was often tight, daily chores left little time, and dreams were put on hold. Yet, love and respect always reigned in their home.

Since she was little, Karina saw her mother juggling two jobs, while her grandmother got up early every morning to prepare breakfast and walk her to school. She had no expensive toys, but books, drawings, and evenings spent talking over a cup of tea. She didn’t envy anyone, because she knew she had something many others didn’t — a real and loving family.

When prom season arrived, Karina too dreamed of a beautiful dress, delicate makeup, an unforgettable evening. But she wondered: how could she afford any of it? She kept her worries to herself, not wanting to burden her mother or grandmother.

Until one evening, they called her into the kitchen. Her mother handed her an envelope:
— “We each saved a little. It’s for your prom. Pick a dress you love. You deserve it.”

Karina held back tears. She knew how much that money cost them. She took the envelope, hugged the two women, and promised to choose a pretty but simple dress.

The next day, on the bus to downtown, she imagined the dresses, the colors, the excitement. Then came a moment she would never forget: an elderly man without a ticket explained he had rushed out to see his sick daughter. The inspectors were harsh. Karina stood up, walked over, and paid for his fare.

The inspectors were surprised. The man, moved, said:
— “My name is Aleks. I will never forget what you did. You’re one of a kind.”

They exchanged a few words. Aleks got off the bus and thanked her warmly. Karina no longer had much money, but she felt at peace. She had listened to her heart.

Back home, with empty hands but a full heart, she borrowed a simple dress from a neighbor. On prom night — music, laughter… then he appeared. Aleks, with a bouquet, walked up to her.

— “I found you,” he said. “My daughter is better. What you did changed everything. Thank you for reminding me that kindness still exists.”

Karina blushed, emotions rising. That evening, everyone admired her glowing face — her dress was modest, but her heart shone brightly.
