Old buildings often hide treasures of architecture and history. Behind what seems like an ordinary structure, there are sometimes fascinating secrets that reveal forgotten aspects of the past.
This is exactly what happened to Simon Marks, a resident of Luton, England. He made an incredible discovery on his own property.
A few years ago, Simon came across something unusual beneath his house: a shelter dating back to the 1940s. It all started when, by accident, Simon drove over one of his flowerbeds. His car sank into the ground, leading him to uncover a hidden structure. At first, he thought it was just a simple hole. But upon closer inspection, he noticed a ladder.
Using a selfie stick, he checked the area and quickly realized he was facing a discovery of great historical importance. It turned out to be an old air-raid shelter. When his father saw the photos, he immediately recognized the structure and explained to Simon the historical significance of what he had just found.
When Simon bought the house, he assumed that the previous owners were likely aware of the shelter and had buried it when the house was built. But this didn’t deter Simon. He decided to preserve the historical shelter.
With the help of his father, he embarked on a careful operation to unearth the shelter. They used buckets to transport the dirt and filmed the entire process. Gradually, they uncovered the two rooms that made up this unique shelter.
