The man was walking home after a long day at work when his attention was caught by an old, worn-out suitcase left by the side of the road.

The suitcase looked like something that had been thrown away, no longer needed. Perhaps someone had just gotten rid of old things. He walked past it without stopping, but just a few steps later, he froze.

A sound was coming from inside the suitcase.

At first, he thought he was imagining it. But then the sound repeated. Faint, barely audible — like someone inside was moaning or whimpering softly. The man quickly turned around.

With a pounding heart, he approached, bent down, and carefully unzipped it.

Inside, curled up in a ball, was a tiny, frightened creature. A small white poodle, covered in dirt, with a dull look in its eyes that made you want to cry.

The man was stunned. Who could do something like this to a defenseless animal?

He gently picked up the dog — it didn’t even resist. At home, he gave it some water, a bit of food, and placed it on a blanket.

Later, the man took the dog to a local shelter. The staff were shocked but glad the poodle was alive. It turned out the dog was generally healthy, aside from severe dehydration and malnourishment.

The police launched an investigation: the suitcase had been left near a residential area, but there were no cameras nearby. So far, no one has been found responsible, but the case is being treated as animal cruelty.
