One day, my son categorically refused to go to daycare: when I discovered the reason, I was left speechless.
It had been five months since my son had been attending daycare. From time to time, he would ask me to stay a little longer because he loved going there. The caregivers were attentive, and he was eager to reunite with his friends.
One morning, as I was waking him up to take him to daycare, he asked me to stay at home. At first, I thought it was just a passing phase, so I decided to make him happy by listening to him. I called my mother to stay with him, and I was able to go to work.
The next day, the scene repeated itself, but this time, he was crying and absolutely refused to go to daycare. His insistence deeply worried me. I had the feeling that there was something I didn’t understand, something I needed to find out.
I first contacted a neighbor whose daughter also attended the same daycare. She reassured me, assuring me that everything was fine for her daughter, who always went happily.
Still, my worry persisted, so I decided to go to the daycare to understand what was really going on. What I discovered left me speechless.
The rest of my story is in the article in the first comment .
Looking through a window, I saw an old woman without a badge forcing a child to eat.
Despite his tears, she kept forcing the spoon into his mouth.
She explained to me that this was part of the daycare’s rules, but I decided to speak to the director.
She confirmed that the woman was an untrained volunteer and that she should never have been alone with the children.
After reporting the incident to the authorities, an inspection revealed several serious shortcomings: employees without the required certifications and children being forced to finish their meals under the threat of shame.
As a result, the daycare lost its license.
Thanks to my son, other children found the courage to testify.
Today, I have enrolled him in a new daycare, where he feels respected and safe.
