At the beach, suddenly a dog ran up to a pile of sand, started growling and barking, and then began digging in the sand: what it pulled out shocked everyone 

It was an ordinary hot day. There were many people on the beach. Children were building sandcastles, making figures, burying each other in the sand, and running along the shore. Some were relaxing with their families under a beach umbrella, others with friends, swimming, sunbathing, playing ball. It seemed like a calm day, just another warm and carefree summer moment.

Among the bathers was a man in his forties. Tall, wearing a panama hat, he was walking slowly along the shore with his dog — a reddish short-haired dog with a black collar. He held the leash in his hand, sometimes talking to his pet, which wagged its tail happily, sniffing the air and leaving tracks in the sand.

Everything changed in a second.

Suddenly the dog sensed something, quickly turned its head toward a large pile of sand nearby. It seemed the children had just finished building it and had gone swimming. The dog ran toward the pile. The man didn’t manage to stop it in time — the leash slipped from his hands and the dog dashed toward the pile.

At first, it looked like a game. The dog started growling and barking, circling the sand pile, then began digging intensely. Sand flew everywhere, the dog dug deeper, ignoring the owner’s words and people’s gazes.

— Hey! Calm down! — the man shouted and ran to grab the dog. But it barked louder and kept digging.

The man thought maybe it had smelled food or trash. Or perhaps a toy was buried under the sand. But when he bent down to grab the dog by its collar, his gaze fell on something visible in the sand… and he froze.

The man pulled out his phone and, with trembling hands, called 911.  Continued in the first comment 

From the loose, scattered soil, a human hand slowly began to emerge. Pale, lifeless-looking, with grains of sand stuck to the skin, half eaten away by the hole the dog had dug.

The man stepped back in fear, almost fell. His heart pounded. Finally, someone answered on the other end of the line.

— He… help… it’s urgent… — his voice trembled. — Here… on the beach… the dog dug up a hand. A human hand!

Within minutes, the beach was filled with police and rescuers. The area around the sand pile was cordoned off and bathers were asked to keep their distance.

People watched with surprise and concern as police carefully began digging the sand with shovels.

What was found next shocked everyone. Beneath the sand lay the body of a woman, carefully placed in the hole. Everything except the head. The head… was missing. As digging continued, police found no trace of the head nearby.

This terrifying discovery broke the peace of the coastal town. The beach, a place of relaxation and joy, suddenly turned into a crime scene.

Police launched an urgent investigation.

And the dog… didn’t bark anymore. It sat quietly next to its owner, as if it knew it had done something important. Something that perhaps helped start the search for the truth.
