The Harringtons boarded as they always did — confidently, calmly, as if the whole world belonged to them. Richard, a successful financier used to controlling everything, and his wife Catherine — beautiful, well-groomed, with a gentle smile and a rounded belly in her seventh month of pregnancy. They flew first class, where every request is fulfilled instantly, but now no amount of money could help.

Catherine suddenly turned pale, her lips became bluish, her breathing grew irregular, short and broken, as if she couldn’t get enough air. She clutched her stomach, trying to cope with the pain, but it only got worse.

A few long minutes passed, feeling like an eternity. And suddenly, her breathing became steadier.

Her lips slowly began to regain their normal color, and the tension in her face eased.

Richard looked at his wife, then at the boy, and there was no longer any arrogance or doubt in his eyes. Only gratitude.
