I Caught My Husband with His Mistress at the Pool — I Wanted to Teach Him a Lesson, But Fate Had Other Plans
I had been married for four years. To others, we seemed like the perfect couple: he had a prestigious office job, we had a cozy home, two cars, a dog, and what appeared to be a peaceful family life.
But one hot day at the city pool turned everything upside down.
That morning I had the day off and decided to surprise my husband with breakfast — I baked fluffy pancakes, adding the last fresh blueberries to the batter.
Tom entered the kitchen with a gloomy look, not even glancing at me.
— Good morning! Breakfast is almost ready, — I said, trying to sound cheerful.
— Uh-huh, — he grumbled, sitting down.
He noticed there were no blueberries in the bowl.
— You know I love blueberries, Lisa.
The conversation quickly escalated into an argument. We ate in silence, and he, coldly saying goodbye, left for work.
I wasn’t going to spend the whole day feeling down. I called my friend May:
— Let’s go to the pool, I need to distract myself.
The sun was shining brightly, the water glittered in the pool. We found two lounge chairs, ordered pizza, and chatted about nothing in particular — until I saw him.
A few meters away lay Tom. And he wasn’t alone — next to him, on a towel, was a young blonde in a bright swimsuit, her hand resting on his thigh.
— May… look over there, — I whispered, feeling my heart pounding.
— Is that… Tom? With a girl? — she gasped, shocked.
I was about to approach and cause a scene, but at that very moment something happened that shook my husband and his mistress far more than anything I could have done.

I was about to go over when a strong young man, about twenty years old, appeared. He ran up to Tom, grabbed him, and pinned him down on the lounge chair.
— Who the hell do you think you are, touching my girlfriend?! — he yelled.
The blonde jumped up, Tom went pale.
— Wait, it’s not what you think… — he stammered.
— Not what I think? You’re lying there with her like she’s your mistress! — the guy growled.
After a brief exchange, he pushed Tom away, saying:
— You’re pathetic, it even disgusts me to touch you.
I stood aside filming everything on my phone. When Tom saw me, he tried to explain.
— Lisa, it’s not what you think…
— Really? Then what is it? — I showed him the video. — Your boss will see this tomorrow.
— Please, let’s talk…
— No. It’s over.
At home, he begged for forgiveness, suggested going to a family counselor, but I couldn’t trust him anymore.
When he tried to blame me for “becoming cold” and pushing him to cheat, I simply sent the video to his boss with the note:
“Thought you might want to know who your daughter spends time with.”
The next day Tom was fired. His career collapsed, and I filed for divorce. It was scary, but I felt like I could finally breathe freely.
Now I know: the truth can hurt, but it also frees. And although that day at the pool was a hard blow, it opened the way to a new, stronger version of myself
