The daughters-in-law abandoned their blind mother-in-law in a remote forest for the sake of the inheritance, hoping that no one would find her there: the old woman already felt that her end had come when a pack of wolves surrounded her, but what the wolves did next was more terrifying than any nightmare 

The daughters-in-law decided to get rid of their blind mother-in-law because of the inheritance and drove her to a desolate forest, confident that no one would find her there. They were sure the woman would not understand anything, since she had been blind from birth. But they forgot one thing — over the years of darkness, her hearing and intuition had grown sharper.

After her husband’s death, all the property passed to her: the house, the accounts, the land. And it was from that very moment that the daughters-in-law’s attitude became cold and fake.

That day they said they were taking the old woman for a walk to get some fresh air and clear her mind. The mother-in-law quietly got into the car, but her heart tightened with тревога. The road was far too long, and there was not a single familiar sound around her.

When the car suddenly stopped, she became alert. The passenger door opened, and she was roughly pulled outside. Beneath her feet she felt leaves and branches.

— We’re here. Stay here. No one will find you anyway, the daughters-in-law whispered with cold cruelty.

The door slammed shut. The engine roared. The car drove away.

The old woman stood alone in the night forest. The wind cut through to her bones, her bare feet growing numb from the cold. Strange sounds echoed around her — branches snapping, rustling in the darkness. Then she heard a howl. First somewhere far away. Then closer. Even closer.

Her heart pounded so loudly it seemed the whole forest could hear it.

The footsteps became distinct. Very close. On her cheek she felt a warm, damp breath. She understood — they were wolves, and they were already there.

The old woman said goodbye to life in her thoughts and began to pray softly, waiting for the end. But at that very moment the wolves did something that left her horrified  The continuation of the story can be found in the first comment 

Instead of a bite, she felt something warm press against her side. Then another body. The wolves surrounded her and lay close against her, as if shielding her from the wind. Their thick fur warmed her body, and their heavy breathing no longer seemed frightening.

All night they did not leave her side.

In the morning, the old woman woke up to the warmth of a sunbeam. The forest was silent. The wolves were gone. Carefully she stood up, felt for the trunk of a tree, and slowly moved forward, holding onto the bark and branches.

She walked for a long time, stumbling and falling, but she did not stop. By evening she felt smooth asphalt beneath her feet. Cars sped past, and finally someone noticed the elderly woman in a thin dress standing in the middle of the road.

People stopped and saved her.

And those who had left her to die in the forest for the inheritance could not even imagine that that night the wild animals had been more human than they were.
