Every night my three cats jumped onto the bed and silently stared at me, and only over time did I realize that they weren’t doing this out of some strange habit 😱😲

I have three cats. I always thought they loved me. Until recently.

Every night the same thing happened. As soon as I fell asleep, the cats came into the bedroom, jumped onto the bed, and sat next to me. They didn’t lie down and they didn’t purr — they just watched me. Closely and for a long time.

At first, I tried not to pay attention to it. Cats are strange, they have their own habits. But one night I woke up in the middle of the night and saw all three of them sitting on the blanket, staring straight at my face. I felt scared because I didn’t understand why.

If it had been just one cat, I would have thought it had simply imagined something. But when all three behave this way at the same time, it no longer seems like a coincidence.

The thoughts wouldn’t leave me alone. Why did they come exactly when I was sleeping. Why always at night. Why did they stare at me so intently.

After a few days, I couldn’t take it anymore and installed a camera with night mode in the bedroom. I wanted to finally understand what was happening and make sure I wasn’t imagining all of this.

In the morning, I reviewed the footage and at first didn’t notice anything unusual. I was sleeping, the cats came into the room and sat next to me.

But then I watched the video again and noticed a detail I hadn’t seen at first, and that’s when I felt real horror as I realized why the cats were doing this 😱😲 I told the continuation in the first comment 👇👇

Around three in the morning, everything changed. The cats suddenly started jumping on me, running across my chest and stomach, pushing me with their paws, and acting restless.

It lasted only a few minutes. Then they suddenly calmed down, got off the bed, and left as if nothing had happened.

I watched that moment several times and only then noticed the detail that truly frightened me. During those minutes, I wasn’t breathing. My chest wasn’t rising, there was no breath, and my face was gradually changing.

Later, the doctor explained that I have sleep apnea syndrome. During sleep, breathing can stop for dozens of seconds, sometimes even longer. The brain doesn’t always react immediately, especially if a person is very tired or taking medication.

In those moments, the body literally begins to suffocate.

The cats sensed this before I did. They noticed that my breathing stopped and tried to wake me up in the only way they knew.

They jumped, pushed, forced my body to move so that I would start breathing again. They did this every night while I didn’t even suspect what was happening.

The next day, I went to the doctor and started treatment. Now I sleep with a device that helps me breathe during sleep, and the cats no longer behave like this at night.

Sometimes I look at them and wonder what truly motivated them. Care — or fear of being left without the owner who feeds them. Honestly, I still don’t know the answer. But one thing is certain. If it weren’t for them, one night I might have simply never woken up.
