Children and grandchildren couldn’t come to grandma’s birthday: I came up with a plan to save her celebration

noticed that our regular customer — woman about 65 years old — was sitting alone at large table full of food and drinks 😢She looked very sad, and immediately understood that something had happened.

— What’s wrong? Why are you so sad today? — decided to ask.

— Today is my birthday, my anniversary… and I’m alone. invited my children and grandchildren… but none of them came. They all have their own worries, work… No one could come.

My heart sank, knew had to save the celebration of our dear customer. Let me tell you what did and hope you appreciate my kind deed 👇👇

have been working at the café for several years, and during this time became part of this little corner of the city where every day was similar to the previous one but always with something special.

especially remember one customer — an elderly woman about 65 — who came almost every day. Sometimes she ordered something to eat, sometimes she just sat with cup of coffee, lost in her thoughts.

No one knew her name, and in way she became part of the café.

That day started my afternoon shift at p.m. as usual. noticed her — the elderly woman sitting alone at large table in the corner of the room. Something was wrong. Usually she sat by the window, but today… She looked very lonely.

approached her and greeted her.

She looked at me with tired eyes and quietly answered:

— Good afternoon.

There was such sadness in her voice that immediately understood something was wrong.

— What’s the matter? Why are you so sad today?

— Today is my birthday and I’m alone. invited my children and grandchildren… but none came. They all have their own worries, work… No one could come.

felt heaviness in my heart. She was sitting alone in the café on this important day.

— suppose this makes you very sad? — asked gently.

She nodded and sighed, looking out the window again.

knew couldn’t just stand there. had to do something. Then an idea came to mind.

— What if we make little surprise for you? can offer you something special, like for our most valued customer.

She looked at me with interest.

— What do you mean? — she asked, though there was still some doubt in her voice.

smiled.

— suggest you spend this day as if you had guests. Let us, the staff, be your guests, and would be happy to keep you company.

asked my colleagues to take short break, and together we set the table. We decorated it with flowers, added some desserts and drinks, and invited her to sit down.

Soon the woman felt much better. She started to smile, and her eyes became brighter. When she tasted the first piece of cake, her eyes lit up like little girl’s.
