A thoughtful son decided to buy an apartment for his retired mother, not far from his own home, to provide her with comfortable living.

The apartment, with an area of 35 m² (excluding the balcony), is located in a panel building from 1968. It has a ceiling height of 2.5 meters. Although the entrance and bathroom are quite small, the kitchen measures nearly 10 m², and the main room exceeds 19 m².

Before the renovations began, the apartment’s condition required completely removing the old coverings. The ceiling, which was in very poor condition, was particularly difficult to restore, and after several unsuccessful attempts with electrical and manual tools, powerful chemicals had to be used to clean the concrete.

During the renovations, the partition between the entrance and the main room was removed and replaced with a drywall partition. Built-in cabinets were installed for optimal space usage.

The work also included replacing the electrical wiring, radiators, doors, and plumbing installations. The walls and ceiling were leveled with plaster and then painted in a uniform color, including the ceiling molding.

The floor of the entrance and kitchen was covered with ceramic stoneware tiles, while parquet was laid in the main room. A silicone sealant was used to separate the two areas. The kitchen, which opens onto the balcony, was completely redesigned with custom-made furniture.

Since the gas had been cut off in the kitchen, it was decided not to install a door.

The bathroom, which was originally a small cabin with wooden walls and ceiling, was completely renovated. The coverings were removed to increase the width by 20 cm, allowing for the installation of a 60 cm wide vanity with a sink.

The ceiling height was unified with the rest of the space, at 2.5 meters. The balcony was glazed and decorated in the same style and color as the rest of the apartment.

What do you think of this renovation? Would you be interested in such a project for your home?
