Alain was born in a town near Paris, 80 km from the famous Notre-Dame Cathedral. His mother was a pharmacist. When she joined the cinema that her husband had opened, she became a cashier. However, after his parents separated when Alain was only 3 years old, they each moved on and the young boy gained half-brothers and half-sisters.
Alain’s stepfather worked in a butcher shop, and his mother also found a job there. Since his parents were often busy, they hired a nanny to take care of him. Thus, Alain lived in two different families. The actor later shared that at first he enjoyed this situation, but over time, he felt that no one really cared about him.
At school, he didn’t get good grades. He was often involved in acts of vandalism and was frequently expelled from school, changing schools often. However, despite this, he had a passion for music and played the piano. He was even rewarded several times for his musical performances, although this interest quickly faded.
Later, he decided to train to become a butcher. After spending a few months in this field, he worked in a store before going to complete his military service. According to the actor, this experience was beneficial for his personal development. Upon his return, he got a job as a waiter, which marked the beginning of his auditions for cinema.
