My daughter said that my husband and I should not only pay for her wedding but also buy an apartment for her and her fiancé.

My husband and I had saved $1500, which seemed like a considerable amount to us, but my daughter responded:

Kristina suddenly stood up:

— What, are you abandoning us?

— No, — I replied. — We love you very much. But you’ve grown up and you need to learn to do things on your own, not just ask.

Our daughter slammed the door. Time passed without her calling us. We were worried, but we didn’t try to reach out first. Then, after a few months, she came by herself.

— Mom, dad… — she said hesitantly. — I found a job. Of course, it’s not what I dreamed of, but now I understand how hard it is to earn money.

She paused and hugged us:

— Forgive me. I was completely wrong…

We smiled. In the end, our daughter understood that the love of parents is not a wallet full of money, but care, support, and education.

Now Kristina is saving for her wedding, and we are helping her with joy. But now it’s not because we have to, but because she has become a grateful adult.
