In the morning, I smelled a strange burning odor coming from the nursery: after reviewing the camera footage, I realized that the outlet next to the crib had caught fire, and my child was saved only because of what happened next…
This morning, around six o’clock, I went into the nursery and immediately noticed a strange smell of burning.
As if something had been on fire there just moments before. The smell was sharp and heavy… yet the room was calm and quiet. My baby was sleeping peacefully in the crib, not moving at all. He had barely woken up during the night and hadn’t cried, so at first I thought it was just my imagination.
But when I came closer, my heart nearly stopped. The wall next to the crib was black, covered with soot, and the outlet was charred.
I froze. That could only mean one thing: there really had been a fire in the nursery. But how? Why was everything already extinguished? And who put it out? No smell of smoke during the night, no alarm, nothing…
Terrified, with trembling hands, I grabbed the baby monitor. I needed to understand what had happened during the night.
I fast-forwarded the recording and watched almost without blinking. The first two hours — complete silence. My baby slept like an angel.
But then, at around 2:30 AM, everything happened within seconds: the outlet suddenly burst into bright flames. Fire shot upward, and sparks fell onto the floor.
With flames like that, the entire room could have caught fire — and my child wouldn’t have survived.
I watched the video and felt sick. My baby slept, so tiny, so helpless… not realizing death was just a few steps away from his crib.
And suddenly — movement on the footage. I looked closer and could hardly believe what I saw. Only because of that moment is my child still alive I still can’t believe it. I shared the rest in the first comment
My dog. The one who usually slept in the living room seemed to sense something and walked into the nursery.
He saw the fire — and didn’t hesitate for a second. He ran straight to the outlet, grabbed the cable with his teeth, and yanked it out.
The flames shrank, started to die down, but there were still glowing embers. And then… he began patting them out with his paws.
When everything was finally extinguished, the dog sat down next to the crib and didn’t move away from my baby until morning.
Later, I noticed he had burns on his paws and around his mouth. And at that moment, I understood one thing: he had saved my child.
Dear moms, please — be careful. Don’t leave devices turned on near children, check old wiring, don’t ignore strange smells.
Today my son is alive only because our dog was there. But you’re not always that lucky.
