‘Masterchef Mexico’ Star, 38, Tragically Killed in Car Accident – Photos, Case Details and Her Brother’s Last Social Media Post

A former “MasterChef México” contestant has tragically died after a car accident in Chihuahua, leaving fans of television and culinary arts in mourning. She had a unique career, balancing her passion for cooking with her work as a nurse.

During her years in the public eye, Yanin Rocío Campos Ruiz earned a special place in people’s hearts through her television appearances and her dedication to helping others.

It was a shock to everyone that what seemed like an ordinary drive would tragically bring her story to an end. The news of her passing has been deeply felt as her brother and close friends posted messages online.

The Incident That Led to Her Death

The nurse and former cooking reality show contestant passed away on August 4, 2025, at the age of 38. She had been hospitalized for days after a car accident on the R. Almada beltway in Chihuahua City.

The incident occurred on Saturday, August 2, around 6:30 a.m. CST when the black GMC Terrain she was driving collided with a parked Ford Econoline near the Privada de Samaniego.

Yanin was rushed to Christus Muguerza del Parque Hospital for her injuries, but died there on Monday afternoon.

The State Public Security Secretariat confirmed that the State Attorney General’s Office’s Damage and Injury Department has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash. Authorities are considering speeding or distracted driving as possible factors.

Her Career in Television and Cooking

Born in Chihuahua in 1987, Yanin was part of the fourth season of “MasterChef México” in 2018, where she finished in sixth place. Her performance earned her a spot on the special “MasterChef: La Revancha (The Rematch)” edition in 2019, where she placed 11th and had some memorable clashes with other contestants, like Carmen Miranda.

Over time, her on-screen charisma and passion for cooking made her a fan favorite. She was also the host of the local show “La Tertulia (The Social Gathering)” and maintained a strong presence on social media and YouTube.

A Producer’s Tribute

Television producer Iker Emerson Navarrete expressed his sorrow with a brief but powerful message on his Instagram stories. His message, which read “Vuela muy, muy alto @yanin_chefmx,” clearly showed the appreciation and respect he had for Yanin.

His post is one of many heartfelt messages that have poured in since the former “MasterChef México” contestant’s death was announced.

Her Brother’s Social Media Post

On August 4, Yanin’s brother, Raúl Campos, posted the following message on Facebook to inform family and friends of her passing:

“To family and friends. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of my sister, Yanin Campos. The viewing will be held at Hernández Funeral Home starting today at 12:00 PM. All who would like to say their final goodbyes and join us are welcome.”

Dozens of people responded to Raúl’s post, offering their condolences and support.

“Raúl, you might not remember me, but from the bottom of my heart, I want to tell you how incredibly sorry I am. I had some wonderful years with your sister, and I tried to be a great friend to her. I don’t know if I succeeded, but I want to believe I did. What I do know is that her faith was always a part of her, and I’m sure she’s in that place we once fantasized about being,” one person wrote.

“Rest in peace. Wishing you and your whole family strength. She’ll always be remembered as the genuine person she was, always driven to get ahead,” commented someone else. “My deepest condolences, sending a big hug. Rest in peace,” read another message.

“Hi Raúl. Your sister is a very important person to me and you don’t know how what happened breaks my heart. I talked to her a few days ago and she was full of plans and I really can’t and don’t want to believe it. Please give a strong hug to your family. Especially your parents who I don’t even want to imagine how they are,” another person added.
