An ordinary day. I walked into a small grocery store on the corner of a busy street. In front of the entrance sat a cat — skinny, with dull fur, but with gentle, worried eyes.

It tucked in its paws, sometimes stood up, and rubbed against the legs of passersby. People already knew it: many regularly brought it something to eat. Some gave it a slice of sausage, others a piece of bread.

The cat accepted the food carefully, but it wasn’t for him: in an abandoned barn nearby, three hungry kittens were waiting. He brought every bite back to them, because their lives mattered more than his own.

That day, he arrived a bit earlier than usual and started meowing to get the customers’ attention. Regulars tossed him a piece of sausage, which he skillfully caught. People watched emotionally as he didn’t eat the treat, but immediately carried it to his kittens. Everyone felt compassion for the poor mama-cat — except one person.

A new vendor, an older man, was irritable and constantly displeased. He thought stray animals ruined the store’s image and drove away customers. When he saw the cat return for another piece of food, he sneered:

“You again?” he muttered under his breath.

When the cat came closer, the vendor kicked him without hesitation. The cat ran off, meowing in pain. But just a few minutes later, the vendor sincerely regretted his act.

At that moment, a young woman nearby had seen everything. She often fed the cat and was even considering adopting one of its kittens. Upset, she took out her phone and recorded the scene.

“Aren’t you ashamed?” she shouted at him. But he brushed her off with an irritated gesture.

The young woman didn’t argue: she knew the video would speak for itself. She posted the footage on social media with this short message:

“This cat doesn’t beg for himself, but for his little ones. And today, instead of help, he received a kick. Let everyone know the truth.”

The post quickly spread through city groups. People left angry comments, demanding the vendor be punished.

The store owner, informed of the scandal, didn’t hesitate: the same day, he fired the vendor to protect the shop’s reputation.

And the cat? His story ended surprisingly happily. Many people wanted to help: some brought food, others paid for a vet visit, and one family adopted him along with his kittens.
