A girl and her friends decided to take a DNA test for fun: but when she saw the results, she was completely shocked 

During a noisy party, friends argued about who among them was really the “most unique”. Someone joked about strange habits, someone recalled family secrets. Then one of the guys suggested an idea:

— Let’s all take a DNA test together! Just for fun, let’s find out who inherited which genes.

Everyone laughed — what could possibly go wrong? It was harmless fun.

A couple of weeks later, everyone received their results. Some learned about their predisposition to lactose intolerance, others — about myopia. But one girl didn’t receive the usual PDF file by email. Instead, she received a call from the lab asking her to come to the hospital immediately.

She entered the office, where several doctors were standing at the table. They were discussing something heatedly, pointing at the papers, but when they noticed the girl, they suddenly fell silent.

“Please, sit down,” one of the doctors said and handed her a sheet of paper.

The girl took it, her eyes slid over the lines, and the further she read, the wider her pupils became. Finally, she covered her mouth with her hand, barely holding back a scream. And then she learned something terrible  Continued

The results showed that she had an extremely rare syndrome – “Chimerism Syndrome”.

This is a genetic anomaly in which a person is born with two sets of DNA inherited from different embryos. In essence, she was “two people in one body”.

The doctors explained:

– Usually, such people can live their entire lives without knowing about their peculiarity. But, unfortunately, you have rare complications. The second line of DNA in your body has activated processes that can provoke the destruction of bone tissue and disruptions in the immune system.

It turned out that this was the reason why the girl sometimes had strange symptoms – joint pain, sudden inflammation, which she attributed to fatigue.

A deathly silence reigned in the office. She looked at the sheet again – it was written in black and white: “Urgent monitoring is necessary. High risk of autoimmune crisis.”

The girl felt the ground slipping out from under her feet. What had started as a harmless joke turned into a terrible revelation. And now every day could be decisive.

She looked up at the doctors and asked in a trembling voice:

– What should I do now?..

One of them sighed heavily:

– We will fight. But, honestly, you must be ready for anything…

And at that moment, for the first time, she truly understood: life will never be the same again
