The police took pity on a poor old woman who was illegally selling vegetables on the street, but when one of the officers leaned over and examined the vegetables more closely, they immediately arrested her
The police received a call about illegal trading on the corner of a main street and rushed to the scene. But when they saw a harmless old woman there with a crate of vegetables, their resolve vanished.
The woman stood next to neatly arranged tomatoes, carrots, and cucumbers, wearing a shabby blouse and a faded skirt.
“Grandma, did you know that street vending is prohibited?” one of the officers asked calmly.
“I know, my dear,” she sighed. “I just need money for medicine for my sick son. He’s alone, and there’s no one to turn to for help. I grew all these vegetables myself, in my garden. There’s nothing wrong with that.”

The police exchanged glances. The violation was obvious, but they felt sorry for the old woman. “We won’t do anything this time,” said the senior officer. “But, Grandma, try to find another part-time job. Other officers might not be as kind as we are.”
“Yes, yes, definitely,” the woman replied, visibly nervous, as if she couldn’t wait for them to leave.
“Since we’re here, let’s at least buy something from you,” smiled one of the policemen. “We’ll do a good deed.”
“No, don’t bother, dear,” she replied hastily. “I already have plenty of customers.”
“Many customers?” her partner was surprised. “But there’s no one around.”
“Well… they come in the morning,” the old woman laughed. “You just missed them.”
“Okay, then we’ll at least take a couple of tomatoes,” the policeman insisted.
“No need, son,” she waved him off again. “Leave them, let the others have them.”
Her voice trembled, her eyes darted around. One of the officers frowned, leaned over, and picked up a tomato from the crate. He examined it carefully, then said sharply, “Arrest her. Now.”
“What? What happened?” his partner asked, surprised.
It turned out that the old woman… Continued in the first comment
The policeman showed her the tomato. There were tiny puncture marks on its surface, as if someone had injected something with a needle. Similar marks were found on the other vegetables.
Later, during the investigation, it was discovered that, disguised as a helpless old woman, the woman was distributing illegal substances.
They found her son, a disabled man, at home, who made all the products, while his mother delivered and sold them, taking advantage of the fact that no one would suspect her trembling hands and elderly smile.
The world has long since learned to hide evil under the most harmless guise.
