That day, the military base was bizarrely still. The soldiers lined up in perfect formation on the parade ground, waiting for the lieutenant colonel to arrive.
Everyone knew what kind of man he was obsessed with authority, addicted to control, and ruthless toward anyone beneath him. His reputation wasn’t built on bravery, but on fear. He belittled his subordinates, handed out punishments for the smallest mistakes, and required blind obedience.

Moments later, the growl of an engine broke the silence. A military jeep roared through the gate, sending up a swirl of dust.

– Attention! – barked the company commander.

Instantly, the soldiers snapped to position, eyes forward, saluting. But just then, a young woman in uniform strode calmly across the square. Confident, graceful, helmet in hand and she didn’t even gaze at the approaching jeep.

The lieutenant colonel saw her and instantly went red with anger. Slamming the brakes, he leaned out the window and whispered:

– Hey, soldier! Why didn’t you salute your superior? Lost your discipline? Do you even know who I am?!

The young woman stopped, looked directly at him, and replied evenly,

– Yes, I know exactly who you are.

Her tone was calm yet defiant only fueled his rage. He leapt out of the vehicle, shouting insults, hurling threats, his voice echoing across the yard. None of the soldiers dared to move.

Then, her voice cut through the chaos – clear and firm:

– I don’t salute anyone of lower rank.

He froze.

– What did you just say?! he stuttered. – I’m a lieutenant colonel!

She stepped forward, meeting his glare head-on.

– And I am a colonel from the Internal Investigation Division. I’m here under orders from the ministry to check your command. There have been far too many complaints… all describing the same thing – your ab:use of your own men.

The lieutenant colonel’s face drained of color. His mouth opened, but no words came out.
The woman crossed her arms and, with a faint, icy smile, added,

– And what’s this? You forgot to salute your superior officer? That’s a viola:tion too.

The parade ground went d3ad silent. Not a single soldier moved. For the first time, the feared lieutenant colonel stood motionless – stripped of his arrogance, speechless before the very people he had once horrified.
