Mom woke up and saw that her older son had taken the newborn brother he hated: she rushed into the nursery and saw something shocking 

When a younger child is born into a family, it is always a big challenge for the older one. The love and attention that once belonged only to him now have to be shared.

In this family, a baby boy was born — the parents were overjoyed. But for the older boy it was a real blow: mom and dad devoted all their time to the baby.

When he asked for help with his homework or to make him breakfast, mom sometimes answered tiredly:

— Do it yourself, I’m very tired. Your little brother needs me.

The boy felt hurt and upset. The parents noticed that his attitude toward his brother began to change.

One morning, mom woke up later than usual — at nine o’clock. Since the baby’s birth, this had never happened. She looked into the crib — the child was gone. Terror filled her. At first she thought her husband had taken the baby, but dad was sleeping peacefully beside her.

There was only one option left — the older son could have taken him.

The woman rushed in panic to the older boy’s room — empty. Her heart sank. Mom burst into the nursery. There she saw something shocking and could barely whisper:

The older boy was holding his little brother tightly to his chest, rocking him so he would fall asleep again.

— What are you doing? — mom asked in a trembling voice.

— Little brother woke up, I wanted to put him back to sleep, — the boy replied.

— Why didn’t you wake me up?

— Because you’re always so tired, mom. I wanted you to get some rest. Did I do something wrong?

— No, sweetheart, — mom sat down beside them and hugged both sons. — You just scared me.

— Mom, if little brother is with me, does that mean you have a little time?

— Yes, son.

— Then please make me breakfast. I’ve missed your cooking so much…

And at that moment mom realized: she had completely forgotten about her older child. But he also needed love and care no less than the baby.

This is a common mistake many mothers make: when the new baby is born, they forget that their older children are still waiting for warmth, attention, and a simple homemade breakfast.
