A millionaire returned home unexpectedly… and was shocked by what he found the maid doing

Michael took a deep breath, compelling himself to stay calm and collected. Charging into the room fueled by emotion could lead to rash decisions, and he needed clarity more than ever. He carefully pulled out his phone, capturing a few seconds of video evidence through the small gap of the door, ensuring he would have proof of what was transpiring before his eyes.

With video secured, Michael quietly stepped back from the nursery door and made his way to his study, where he could compose himself and approach the situation with a level head. His mind raced with questions: Was Gloria harming Emily, or was there some other explanation? Whatever the truth, he needed to find out swiftly.

Once in his study, he called the family’s pediatrician, Dr. Reynolds, someone he trusted. Michael explained the situation, describing the unauthorized jar and Gloria’s suspicious behavior. Dr. Reynolds listened patiently, his voice steady and reassuring. “Michael, I understand your concern. If you can, bring the jar to me, and I’ll analyze its contents immediately. But for now, it’s crucial to ensure Emily’s safe.”

Michael nodded, even though the doctor couldn’t see him. “Thank you, Dr. Reynolds. I’ll get to the bottom of this.”

Next, he called Gloria’s supervisor at the agency that had recommended her. While waiting for the call to connect, he paced the room, his mind still buzzing with anxiety. When the supervisor answered, Michael kept his tone calm but firm, recounting what he had witnessed. The supervisor promised a full investigation, acknowledging that Gloria had no history of misconduct but agreeing that the situation needed immediate attention.

Feeling somewhat fortified by the calls, Michael returned to the nursery. He pushed the door open quietly but assertively, his presence instantly filling the room. Gloria looked up, startled, her hand pausing mid-air with the spoon hovering near Emily’s mouth.

“Mr. Whitmore!” she stammered, clearly caught off guard. “I—I didn’t know you’d be back today.”

Michael fixed her with a steady gaze. “Gloria, I want to know what you’re feeding my daughter.” There was no anger in his voice, just the weight of a father’s concern.

Gloria hesitated, her eyes darting towards the small jar. “It’s—it’s a homemade supplement,” she said finally, her voice barely above a whisper. “I thought it might help with her teething. My grandmother used to make it for us.”

Michael’s expression softened slightly, though his guard remained up. “Why didn’t you ask me first? All of Emily’s dietary needs are managed by professionals.”

“I didn’t want to bother you,” Gloria replied, her eyes earnest and somewhat pleading. “And I never meant any harm, Mr. Whitmore. I’m sorry if I’ve overstepped.”

Michael took the jar from her and motioned for her to stand. “We’ll have this checked. Until then, I need you to step back from your duties.”

Gloria nodded, tears brimming in her eyes as she handed Emily back to him. “Of course, sir. I understand.”

As Gloria left the nursery, Michael cradled Emily, feeling the warmth of her tiny body against his chest. Relief mixed with residual worry, but he knew he had taken the right steps. His priority remained clear—protecting Emily. Whatever the outcome, he would ensure she was safe and surrounded by those he could trust unequivocally.
