My ex-husband’s new wife bought a $1000 dress for my daughter for her prom, and here’s what my daughter did

😲 My ex-husband’s new wife bought a $1000 dress for my daughter for her prom, and here’s what my daughter did.

It’s been six years since I divorced. Shortly after, my ex-husband remarried. As for me, I decided to devote my life to my daughter, Lily. After our divorce, my ex-husband stayed close to Lily, and his new wife, Cassandra, did everything she could to gain her trust.

Lily is 17, and this fall, she’ll be starting university. This year, she was looking forward to her prom. She had seen a beautiful dress, but it was also very expensive, costing $1000.

Although I earn a good living, I knew this dress was far beyond what I could afford. Lily understood the situation. She told me it didn’t matter, that she would settle for another dress.

But the night before prom, something unexpected happened. Cassandra, my ex-husband’s new wife, arrived at our house with several packages. She unpacked the gifts in front of us and pulled out the dress that Lily had shown me.

“Wow! It’s… it’s the one I showed Mom,” Lily said, visibly surprised.

Cassandra smiled at her and said, “I know, your friend Jessica told me you had mentioned it at school. You deserve to wear the dress of your dreams, Lily. I know your mom can’t afford it, so I bought it for you.”

She then left the room with a satisfied smile, as though she had won a victory.

I said nothing. After all, Lily had finally gotten the dress she’d dreamed of wearing, but what she did next truly impressed me.

When Lily saw the dress Cassandra had given her, she was genuinely happy.

Then, she looked at me and said, “Mom, look, it’s exactly the one I picked out.”

I smiled at her and handed her the dress I had sewn by hand, an almost perfect replica of the dress of her dreams.

“I know it’s not as expensive, but I put all my love and time into making this one for you.

I wanted to show you that even without a big budget, you can have something special.”

Lily looked at me, her eyes sparkling.

In the end, she took the dress I made and said, “You know what, Mom?

You’ve always taught me to make things special.”

She chose love and effort, and I was proud of her decision.
